Alkira is easy to find. There are two ways to get here from Melbourne (a mobile phone will work virtually all the way if you need to call us). Our phone number is (03) 5968 1484.
Our road number is 2427 Launching Place Road, Gembrook. Under the rural road numbering scheme this numbers represents 24.27 km from the datum point. Watch out for these numbers on people’s gateposts as you get near (they get larger closer to Gembrook).
FROM MELBOURNE AIRPORT:
From the airport take the Tullamarine Freeway to Melbourne.
Follow City Link to Dandenong via the Monash Freeway.
Exit the Monash Freeway at Wellington Road.
Follow Wellington Road all the way to Emerald.
Drive through Emerald, Cockatoo as far as Gembrook. And then follow the directions on the next page.
FROM THE CITY, SOUTHERN AND SOUTH EASTERN SUBURBS
Get to Gembrook, Melways ref. 189, J10
At the end of the High Street, turn left into the Gembrook - Launching Place Road. There is a large direction sign to Gilwell Park which is next door to us.
Drive 7kms, just before you reach us, the road passes through the middle of Gilwell Park. On the way you will pass the Cap and Apron Tea Rooms and Warwick Road (Twice!).
We are on the right hand side of the road and have a clearly visible reflective sign. If you reach Soldiers Road, you’ve missed us!
Half-way up our driveway you will come to a black gate, press button for entry and then please follow reception signs.
FROM NORTH EASTERN SUBURBS
Get to Lilydale, Melways ref. 38, E4.
Head eastwards out of town on the Maroondah Highway.
After 2 kms turn right onto the Warburton Highway (Melways ref. 38, K2)
Drive approximately 18kms to Woori Yallock (pass through the townships of Wandin and Seville on the way).
2 km beyond Woori Yallock, (Just past Hillcrest Store) make a right hand turn into Lusatia Park Rd, this is well signposted. (Melways ref. 119C A9)
Drive 9 kms until you reach a T junction, turn right (towards Gembrook) into the Launching Place - Gembrook Road. (There is the Hoddles Creek CFA fire station on the corner).
Drive 12kms and we are on the left hand side of the road and have a large reflective sign at our entrance which is clearly visible, even in bad visibility.
Half-way up our driveway you will come to a black gate, press button for entry and then please follow reception signs.

Most of these last 12kms is through State Park and may seem very quiet and lonely on a dark night. On the way you will pass the “Big Berry”, Shiprock Falls, Beenak Road and Soldiers Road (don’t worry if you don’t notice all of these, the signs can be difficult to see at night).
